Port Glasgow Steamboat Quay and Beacon lights are located on the River Clyde 2.5miles/5Kms east of Greenock on the west coast of Scotland. As can be seen in some of my photographs my first visit to to the lights was in blue skies and sunshine, not so on Sunday 1st July 2007 on my 3rd visit to the lights, I was hoping after driving the 45miles/75Kms from my camping site at Arrochar that the weather conditions would improve but only mist , rain and grey skies. I was taking some more photos when out of the mist and rain appeared the "WAVERLEY" heading down river towards me and the lights, would it pass close enough to the lights , as you can see from the photos it did, it was a bonus for me not only activating the 2 lights for the first time, but getting the photos of the "WAVERLEY" the only sea going paddle steamer in the world , as my friends in Scotland say "I was best pleased".
