CROMARTY NESS lighthouse is located on the east coast of Scotland 23 miles / 37Kms north of the City of INVERNESS and 9 miles / 14.6 Kms from CHANONRY POINT lighthouse. Established 1846, Engineer Alan Stevenson. Structure 13 metres hight. Many of the oil rigs used in scottish waters were built and now serviced here in the CROMARY FIRTH. Many emigrant ships sailed from Cromarty, mainly for CANADA in the 1830s and 1840s. As the funfair people had booked the field I asked and received permission to park on the field ,a little courtesy always helps.
